Tesla has been asked to recall 158,000 vehicles over faulty display consoles.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration requested the recall, who said that failing touch screens in the vehicles could lead to an increased chance in crashes.
In the letter, Tesla was asked to “initiate a recall to notify all owners, purchasers, and dealers of the subject vehicles of this safety defect and provide a remedy, in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.”
The cars that will be recalled are Model S sedans built between 2012 and 2018 as well as Model X SUVs that were built from 2016 to 2018.
