Donald Trump starts 2017 with scathing tweets on General Motors, China and Obamacare

US President-elect Donald Trump has threatened American carmaker General Motors with extra taxation for selling cars made in Mexico tax-free in the United States.

On Tuesday, Donald Trump accused the company of selling their Chevy Cruise model to car dealers in the US tax-free:

General Motors now produces its Chevy Cruze model to Mexico after its Lordstown plant in Ohio failed to keep up with demand, despite running three shifts each day.

However, Trump has spoken of his desire to bring back production to the US from abroad in order to boost employment for Americans. He has criticised several major corporations through Twitter for the same thing since his election in November, which saw him seize power over frontrunner Hillary Clinton.

General Motors are one of America’s largest carmarkers, headquartered in Detroit and manufacturing Buick, Cadillac, GMC and Chevrolet cars.

Trump also tweeted on several other topics on Tuesday, starting the first day of the working year off with a bang.
