Circuitree is Crowdcube’s new energy start-up, hoping to raise a total of £100,000 with 8.33 percent equity.
The Circuitree Cirrus smart battery solution allows intermittent solar energy to be captured and used on demand allowing flexible dispatch of solar day and night.
Combined with solar, Cirrus home battery solutions provides up to 80 percent of a typical home’s annual electricity demand. Utilities benefit from reduced peak demand and a more stable, balanced grid.
This start-up, which already has 53 investors, recognised the need for a smart battery solution from the 800 thousand UK residential solar homeowners, over 1,700 solar installers and many developers, architects and local authorities adopting a sustainability focus.
Circuitree has already shown promise among investors, having been listed in Solar Media Energy Storage 100 emergent companies to watch as well as receive university innovation funding.
The company have seen customers benefit from the ability to use up to 100 percent of their solar generation, at the time of their choosing, that would otherwise be lost to export.
James Dean, the CEO, founded Circuitree “with the clear mission of bringing clean, safe, resilient power to consumers at competitive cost.”
Circuitree makes money from product sales and installation projects. They offer several system sizes with retail installed costs from £700 / kWh.
“During 2017 we will focus on the local area to gain traction in the market, this will also help implement new analytics and control software, streamline production and refine the sales and installation process – whilst generating early cash flow. The next step is to develop B2B channels via existing solar PV companies, who we aim to train and support as an accredited reseller network and regional project delivery resource.
“Using crowd funds, we plan to equip our initial production line, develop new product features and drive sales and marketing activity via web, media and trade events. In addition, we have identified a number of grant funding streams.”
