International publishing house Conde Nast is preparing to launch a Polish version of Vogue, marking the 23rd edition of the iconic fashion magazine.
The magazine is set to launch next year, and will be headed up by the magazine’s new editor-in-chief Filip Niedenthal. Polish model Malgosia Bela, who has modelled for Comme des Garçons, Givenchy and Balenciaga to name but a few, will be taking up the title of editor-at-large.
Condé Nast always believed in local autonomy, in local creativity and relevance of its editions for local readers,” Karina Dobrotvorskaya, president of Condé Nast new markets and editorial director of brand development, told Business of Fashion.
“Yes, digital is becoming increasingly globalised, but print readers are still looking for a unique experience. So we do believe Poland deserves its own highly creative edition of Vogue which will be different from the other 22 Vogues.”
Polish Vogue’s new editor-in-chief Filip Niedenthal has previous experience launching a magazine in the Eastern European market, having previously worked on the launch of Esquire in Poland.
“Polish readers have been waiting for their own edition of Vogue for years now,” said Niedenthal.
“Rumours that it was about to launch have been rife since I started working in the business 17 years ago.”
The launch in Poland comes just one year after the publishing house’s launch of digital-only edition in Arabia in 2016. Unlike the Arabian Vogue, however, the Polish edition will launch both online and in print at the same time.
