ITV (LON:ITV) have announced the appointment of Christ Kennedy as the company’s new chief financial officer.
Kennedy is set to join ITV in February 2019, after previously holding the same title at Microfocus.
“This is an exciting time to be joining ITV,” Kennedy said. “I’m looking forward to working with the team to execute the strategy and deliver value for shareholders.”
“Chris was the stand out candidate in a very strong shortlist and the board are really pleased that he will bring his experience and expertise to ITV,” said channel chairman, Sir Peter Bazalgette.
“He has a great media background from his 17 years at EMI and he has built on that as a CFO of three FTSE 100 companies.”
Chief executive Carolyn McCall added: “I am really pleased to be working with Chris again as CFO. He will play a huge role in helping us deliver our new More Than TV strategy and I know he will work really well with the senior leadership team of ITV.”
CEO Carolyn McCall joined the broadcaster from EasyJet in January of this year.
A month later, ITV posted its half-year results, noting a boost from successful programmes such as Love Island and increased viewership as a result of the World Cup in Russia.
Nevertheless, many broadcasters are still feeling the pressure as a result of a difficult TV advertising market.
The popularity of online streaming services such as Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX) and Amazon Prime (NASDAQ:AMZN) have also proved a challenge for ITV.
Shares in ITV are currently down -0.13% as of 11.17AM (GMT).
