Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) has bought Finnish sleep-tracking service Beddit in a surprise deal, the terms of which are yet to be confirmed.
Beddit updated their privacy policy to say that it had been acquired the the US technology giant in an update on May 8th, saying:
“Beddit has been acquired by Apple. Your personal data will be collected, used and disclosed in accordance with the Apple privacy policy.”
Dubbed the ‘Fitbit of sleep’, the Beddit tracker tracks sleep time and quality, heart rate, breathing rate and snoring, as well as incorporating an alarm clock that wakes the sleeper in their lightest sleep phase.
Beddit had raised $3.5 million in funding since it was founded, and will complement Apple’s otherwise comprehensive range of health tools. The sleep company partnered with fitness tracking firm Misfit in 2014 to create the co-branded Misfit Beddit, before Misfit was bought in 2015 by watch-maker Fossil.
