Forbes released their list of the ten highest paid actresses in the world on Wednesday, cheering news for anyone sat in an office on a minimal salary. Jennifer Lawrence is at number one again this year, making it her second year in a row at the top of her game; earning a sizeable $13 million more than Melissa McCarthy, number two on the list.
Together these ten actresses earned $205 million between June 1, 2015, and June 1, 2016, before fees and taxes. Just four of the women, however, banked more than $20 million – compared with 18 of the world’s leading actors.
So, in reverse order, here are ten women who definitely earn more than you.
10) Deepika Padukone India’s Deppika Padukone is the only newcomer to the list, making her name with bollywood films such as Bajirao Mastoni. While she earns less than some of the Hollywood stars on the list, her plethora of “lucrative endorsements” ensures her entry into the top 10.
9) Mila Kunis Its been several years since Mila Kunis made her name as the voice of Meg on Family Guy; since then she has starred with Justin Timberlake in Friends with Benefits and Natalie Portman in Black Swan. The star supplements her earnings through contracts with Gemfields and Jim Beam.
8) Julia Roberts
Acting veteran Julia Robert’s Lancome contract helps put her at number eight on the list, earning $12 million in 2016.
7) Amy Adams
Amy Adams has added several films to her list of hits this year, including Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and upcoming film Dischanted. Alongside earnings from her MaxMara contract, she has earned $13.5 million over the past year.
6) Charlize Theron
41 year old Theron is rumoured to have been paid $10 million upfront for her latest film The Huntsman: Winter’s War, propelling her to number six on the list. Well known for her her roles in Mad Max: Fury Road and Young Adult, she is also the face of J’Adore Dior perfume.
5) Fan BingbingFan Bingbing is the only Chinese actress to make the list, earning a total of $17 million in 2016. Advertising gigs include Chopard and L’Oreal.
4) Jennifer Aniston
No stranger to the list, Jennifer Aniston’s healthy $21 million earnings for 2016 sees her returning to the top ten at number 4. Her recent advertising agreement with Emirates airlines added a fair amount to her annual earnings, as well as several upfront fees for films that run into the millions.
3) Scarlett Johansson
Scarlett Johansson enters third place with total earnings for the year of $25 million. First known for her role in The Girl with the Pearl Earring, Johansson has since starred in over 20 films – making her a regular on the top ten list.
2) Melissa McCarthy
McCarthy pulls into second place this year after reportedly earning an eight figure upfront fee for the remake of Ghostbusters. First famous for her role in 90s hit TV series Gilmore Girls, she has since starred in several blockbuster comedies and has launched her own all-sizes clothing line.
3) Jennifer LawrenceLawrence takes the top spot for the second year running, becoming the world’s highest paid woman. The youngest member on the list, her role as Catniss Everdeen propelled her earning potential into the big league; this year she took a sizeable cut of the $653.4 million profits made from the final film in the series.
