Energy bills are expected to rise again in April, meaning over a million homes in the UK won’t be able to afford to heat their homes.
National Energy Action has said that 1.2 million households will fall into fuel poverty, joining the 4 million families who are already unable to head their homes.
Ofgem has said the average energy bill would increase from £400 to £600 a year.
“It’s really important the government thinks now about what may need to be put in place come next spring when we’re going to see even more problems with people’s energy bills,” said Clare Moriarty, chief executive of Citizens Advice.
