Rishi Sunak has called on workers to return to the office.
The chancellor has said that it’s “really important” for younger staff, in particular, to return to workplaces as restrictions ease.
“I think for young people, especially, that ability to be in your office, be in your workplace and learn from others more directly, is something that’s really important and I look forward to us slowly getting back to that,” he said.
Sunak also said that over a third of UK employees have received state support over the past year. Around 2.4 million people are still on the furlough scheme, which is set to wind down later this year.
It is likely that when the scheme ends in September there will be a rise in redundancies.
